Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo recently received the 2010 Dr. G.D. Merrick Award from North Delta Regional Planning.

The Dr. G.D. Merrick award was created more than 20 years ago by the staff and Board of Directors of the North Delta Regional Planning and Economic Development District. It was created to honor Dr. Merrick for his many years of dedicated service as president of the North Delta Board. Each year, the staff and board members select a fellow board member who has shown a similar dedication to the continued success of North Delta.

David Creed, the executive director of North Delta, said, "Mayor Mayo has gone beyond the call of duty in his efforts to ensure that North Delta not only survives, but increases its effectiveness in providing more projects and more jobs for the community."
