Monroe gets second quiet RR zone
Monroe officials recently received confirmation that the Federal Railroad Administration approved a second quiet zone in Monroe.
The new quiet zone will extend east and include the Kansas City Southern crossings at Powell Avenue, Kansas Lane and Millhaven/La. 594.
The quiet zone is expected to become effective within the next 45 to 60 days, after the city's public works department makes necessary upgrades to the crossings.
