Mortgage company to stay, grow in Monroe area

Benchmark Bank's subsidiary, Affiliated Mortgage Company of West Monroe, announced Wednesday it has committed to retain and expand its operations in northeast Louisiana.
Gov. Bobby Jindal joined Benchmark Bank chairman and CEO Mike Barnett, Affiliated Mortgage Company president Dan Hastings and Monroe Mayor Jamie Mayo for Wednesday's announcement.

Benchmark Bank originally considered moving AMC operations to another state to accommodate the expansion, but the company has instead decided to stay and grow in the Monroe area, according Barnett.

To accommodate AMC's expansion, Benchmark Bank has purchased a new, larger building in Monroe, and AMC will move into its new location in February 2011.
