Sterlington anticipates budget surplus

The Sterlington Town Council adopted a $2.7 million budget for the 2011 fiscal year during its regular meeting Tuesday.

The 2011 budget projects a surplus for the first time in several years.

Mayor Vern Breland said the town of Sterlington currently has a fund balance of roughly $409,000, which the town has used to shore up finances over the past several years.
