Parades, fireworks show this weekend
One of the biggest holiday events in north Louisiana will take place this weekend as Christmas on the River continues with fireworks, parades, dancing in the streets and appearances from old Saint Nick himself.
Sheila Snow with the Monroe-West Monroe Convention and Visitors Bureau said this past weekend's Christmas on the River activities attracted people from around the Twin Cities as well as out-of-towners from Arkansas and Mississippi.
"We really had a great response and turnout with people all over downtown Monroe and West Monroe," Snow said. "We were very excited about the turnout."
