Onyemechara trial delayed until March

The trial for former Monroe tax director Patrick Onyemechara has been delayed until March.
Onyemechara's trial was scheduled to begin Monday, Nov. 29. His attorney, Charles Kincade, filed a continuance motion in 4th Judicial District Court earlier this month. Kincade's motion was granted Nov. 17.

Onyemechara was indicted by a Ouachita Parish grand jury in October 2009 on 30 counts of felony theft and one count of racketeering stemming from his employment with the city of Monroe.

Onyemechara has been held at the Ouachita Correctional Center on a $2.7 million bond.
Onyemechara is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorneys Geary Aycock and Neal G. Johnson of the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office.
