Tree lighting Saturday Mayor Jamie Mayo and the Monroe City Council invite the public to the city's annual tree-lighting ceremony at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4 in the Monroe Civic Center Plaza.
Mayo and city council members will make a few remarks and then the current Little Miss and Mister DeltaFest, and the new Miss Monroe Pageant winners will help flip the switch to the city's fully decorated 30-foot tall tree. Free hot chocolate and cookies will be served.
J.S. Clark Elementary's school choir and Kappa Delta Sorority will provide musical entertainment.
Santa Claus also is expected to stop by on a Monroe Fire Truck to deliver candy. |
