Family, friends what holiday all about
Bonnie Hales will be up and about early Thanksgiving morning frying more than a dozen turkeys for family and friends.
This has been a Thanksgiving tradition for Hales for the past 25 years.
Hales, 79, was raised in Mississippi on a small cotton farm where she learned the meaning of hard work.
"You had to work hard just to survive," Hales said. "I came to Monroe in 1950 to intern at St. Francis (Medical Center) as a medical technologist and met my husband. I've been retired for about 12 years."
