Police jury seeks help for FEMA trailers

The Ouachita Parish Police Jury will ask the Louisiana State Uniform Construction Code Council to allow people to live in FEMA trailers if they spend the money to bring them up to state code.

Foy Gadberry, of Home Builders Association of Northeast Louisiana, said several people have been denied permits in Ouachita Parish in the past month for FEMA trailers.
The owners recently purchased the trailers, thinking they could live in them permanently, Gadberry said.

He said FEMA had the trailers constructed as non-permanent residences.
