The Center for Children and Families in Monroe is preparing for its annual Christmas Project.
The Christmas Project helps provide clothing and gifts for needy children in northeast Louisiana at Christmas. The gifts are provided by businesses, church groups, and individuals who receive a child's wishlist, which includes a child's clothing sizes and one toy he or she would like for Christmas.

Last year, The Christmas Project helped provide Christmas for more than 700 local children.
The Christmas Project serves children who have been abused or neglected and children who are living in poverty in northeast Louisiana. These are children who have been served throughout the year by one of the branches of The Center for Children and Families, such as CASA of Northeast Louisiana, The Children's Advocacy Center and Family Foundations.

CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, trains volunteers from the community to be the voice of a child in court. Volunteer advocates work with the court system to ensure that abused and neglected children find a safe, permanent home.
