West Ridge students count their blessings The following excerpts were randomly selected from essays written by eighth-graders in Kathryn Hart's English classes at West Ridge Middle School in West Monroe:
Second, I would like to thank my brother that's name is Garrett Kent. I would like to thank him for being the best brother anyone could have because he has helped me and done many things for me. I call Garrett bubba, and he is in Iraq, fighting the war, until December. He is risking his life so that we can all have our lives. My brother will always be by my side, even while he is away. I barely ever get to talk to him, but when I do, I wish our conversations never have to end. — Mikayla Renee' Pilgreen
Finally, my last blessing is my old principal at Claiborne Elementary, Mr. Kevin Welch. I used to love walking down the halls and talking with him everyday. I was always talking to the teachers if they were standing or walking beside us. He also has the memory of an elephant because he remembers everyone and their parents and their relatives! I haven't seen him in three years, and just a few days ago I saw him and said hey. He looked at me with a funny face and said, "Don't tell me ..... Jameson Guidry!" He is the kindest person I have ever met. He is also a great role model for all the children who go there. Never once have I heard him raise his voice at anyone, even if they were in bad trouble. When I did go to Claiborne, I never went to the office for being in trouble. I know that when he had to paddle students that it hurt him more than it hurt them. — Jameson Guidry .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
