The Ouachita Parish Police Jury will only have $330,000 in general fund revenues to spend on discretionary expenses during the 2011 fiscal year.

Of the $5.5 million in the Police Jury's general fund for 2011, almost $5 million will be spent on state-mandated expenses, such as providing funding for 4th Judicial District Court, the 4th Judicial District Attorney's Office, Ouachita Parish Clerk of Court, registrar of voters office, parish coroner and other governmental entities.

Police Juror Charles Jackson, who serves as chairman of the Police Jury finance committee, said the main concern each year for the Police Jury regarding its general fund is state-mandated expenses.
