City, district make headway on reuse project West Monroe's $20-million Sparta reuse project could be operational by fall 2011, according to Mayor Dave Norris.
The reuse project will allow Graphic Packaging to use treated wastewater in its production process. Wastewater will be treated at West Monroe's treatment plant, which will undergo millions of dollars in work as part of the project. Wastewater will be derived from the city and West Ouachita Sewer District No. 5.
By using wastewater in its operations, Graphic Packing can all but discontinue using water from the endangered Sparta Aquifer. Graphic Packaging currently draws about 10 millions gallons per day from the aquifer. .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
