Group touts gas tax hike to improve infrastructure

Representatives with Driving Louisiana Forward will make a push this year to have the Legislature look at revamping how the state funds its highway needs.

Driving Louisiana Forward is a statewide campaign organized by businesses and people who want to improve the state's infrastructure. The campaign is now in its third year.

Jennifer Marusak, a consultant with Driving Louisiana Forward who once worked for the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, said the group has always advocated for the state to put all of its transportation user fees into its transportation system. Marusak paid a visit to The Ouachita Citizen last week to talk about Driving Louisiana Forward.
