Webber disappointed over loss of federal funds Ouachita Parish Schools Superintendent Dr. Bob Webber expressed his disappointment Tuesday over news that anticipated state funding for parish school systems throughout the state will not be forthcoming as promised by state officials.
Superintendents across the state learned late last week from state Superintendent Paul Pastorek that the Jindal administration will use $147 million in federal education funding to help offset budget cuts to higher education. The federal funding also will be used to help plug a hole in the 2009-2010 fiscal year budget. The administration recently learned the 2009-2010 budget was out of balance thanks to a decline in sales and corporate tax collections.
