"The Enjoyment of Music," presented by Dr. Clay Couturiaux, Director/Conductor of the Monroe Symphony Orchestra was the outstanding program for The English-Speaking Union on Nov. 11, 2010, at the Bayou DeSiard Country Club.

He demonstrated with piano selections and how they related to your emotions on hearing certain selections of music. Composers can reflect the pastoral sounds of nature, the happy childhood memories, the thrill of victory or the joy of seeing certain works of art.  The mood of music can be changed by modifying the notes — from happiness to sadness to sheer enjoyment. 

ESU president Joan Chardkoff welcomed members and guests. She announced the upcoming programs for 2011. Minette Saber, vice president, gave the introduction of the speaker, noting his many achievements in the musical realm. The 2010-2011 season marks the maestro's seventh year as music director/conductor of the Monroe Symphony Orchestra.
