The Ouachita Parish Police Jury will enter into agreements with parish municipalities to spend $3.7 million the parish got two years ago for disaster-related infrastructure projects.
The $3.7 million was allocated to the parish by the Louisiana Recovery Authority to use on projects that were related to hurricanes Gustav and Ike.

The disaster recovery money can be used by the parish for projects to help mitigate problems that occurred when the hurricanes passed through northeast Louisiana in 2008. Numerous homes and neighborhoods flooded when Gustav hit Ouachita Parish.

Drainage improvement projects to address flooding have been a focus of several police jurors for a number of months.
