Seven western Ouachita Parish high school seniors were honored Monday for becoming semi-finalists in the National Merit Scholarship program.

West Monroe High School students Alyssa Leader, Miranda Lunsford, Ellis Michael, Anne Muckleroy, Kelsey Murray and Emily Todd and West Ouachita High School student Jordan O'Briant were honored with a luncheon at the West Monroe Convention Center.

Blake Wheelis, a member of the West Monroe-West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce's board of directors, said several local organizations wanted to do something special for these students to recognize their scholastic achievements.
