Rebels, Owls clash

The West Monroe Rebels (10-0) will begin the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 5A playoffs as the No. 4 seed and host the No. 29 Chalmette Fighting Owls (7-3) this Friday at Rebel Stadium.

The Rebels have been nationally ranked and sitting on top of the Louisiana Sports Writer's Association poll for the entire season after winning the Class 5A championship last year over Archbishop Rummel of New Orleans. 

The Rebels were seeded fourth in the playoffs largely because of strength of schedule being lower than other teams ranked higher in the power point system. The LHSAA uses the system to determine playoff seedings for the Top 32 teams in each classification.
