Last year, Sgt. Jordan Tuttle, a 2006 graduate of Ouachita Parish High School, gave his life fighting for his country in Iraq.

He was honored Tuesday during the Ouachita Parish School Board's meeting for the service to his country.

His mother and step-father, Annette and Myron Turner, accepted a plaque the school board presented to "recognize and celebrate the courage and life" of Tuttle.
