Jeff Joyce was elected judge to the Monroe City Court bench in Tuesday's elections, defeating Laurie Burkett with 58 percent of the vote.

In complete but unofficial election returns from the Secretary of State's Office, Joyce received 5,357 votes to Burkett's 3,808 votes.

Joyce and Burkett ran first and second respectively in the Oct. 2 primary election in a three-candidate field. The third candidate was Charlie Heck, a Republican.
