Louisiana Bayou Blulebird Society meets

The Louisiana Bayou Bluebird Society held its annual meeting Oct. 23, at Biedenharn Museum and Gardens Education Center in Monroe.

The organization elected the following slate of officers and board members for 2010-2012: president: Margaret Kemp of Many; first vice-president: Tom Allen of Oak Ridge; second vice-president: Kenny Kleinpeter of Baton Rouge; secretary and treasurer: John Tidwell of Monroe; recording secretary: Evelyn Cooper of Delhi; historian: Alethea Brown of Mandeville.
Incoming board members are Mary Jane Shearer of Tucker, Ga.; Mildred Hyde of Monroe; Carolyn Martin of Many; Emily Winners of Lecompte; Dorothy Gammel of Denham Springs; Marilynn Lewis of Ruston; and Yvonne Bordelon of Covington.

Mildred Hyde of Monroe, was honored as the "LBBS Bluebirder of the Year" for 2010 in recognition of her outstanding dedication and service to LBBS.

She has years of experience in the field and monitors several trails, those being a trail at Jonesville, one at Black Bayou Refuge Center and the Leo Terzia Memorial Trail on the Department of Agriculture and Forestry Grounds in Monroe. She also serves on the LBBS board of directors and serves on the refreshment committee for all state meetings.
