Dianne and Mike Cage have the harvest invitations in the mail honoring our friends Carol and Bob Cudd who will be in town for a short visit from Taos, New Mexico. The invitations are water color with topiary orange pumpkins. Good food and good drinks every time with Dianne!

Save the date of Nov. 28 to hear our New Orleans' activist of the year, Anne McDonald Milling, formerly of Monroe and now New Orleans. Anne will discuss the oil spill and the British Petroleum tragedy as well as give her update on the restoration of New Orleans.  The event will be held at 11 a.m. at Covenant Presbyterian Church and the public is cordially invited by the Garden Study League.

We recommend the movie "Secretariat," currently showing at the movie theaters in our area. It is the story of the 1972 winner of the Triple Crown. Word from Baton Rouge was that Les Miles used the film for motivation in the LSU-Auburn showdown on Saturday, last.  Well, LSU muffed the first leg of the Triple Crown, 24-17. Let's see how we fare with the Preakness/Alabama and the Belmont/Arkansas!  Cam Newton appears to be a quarterback in a league of his own. The LSU defense could not stop Cam and his play makes him first in the ranking for the Heisman trophy.

Martha Jane Anderson retired from University of Louisiana-Monroe after 35 years of service as Assistant Dean of Students and SGA Advisor. She is married to Patrick H. Anderson Sr., has two children, and four grandchildren.
