Mayo: Monroe to post $500k surplus
The city of Monroe expects to post a budget surplus at the end of its current fiscal year, Mayor Jamie Mayo said Wednesday.
Mayo, along with members of the Monroe City Council, spoke briefly to representatives of the business community during Monroe's annual state of the city luncheon. The event was hosted by the Monroe Chamber of Commerce and held at the Monroe Civic Center.
Mayo said many factors, such as positive economic activity over the past few years, helped produce a "championship atmosphere" for the city of Monroe.
