Harris convicted of malfeasance

Former Richwood Mayor Ed Harris, who recently was elected to the Richwood Board of Aldermen, was convicted Saturday of one count of malfeasance in office.

A six-person jury found Harris guilty after deliberating for almost three hours following closing arguments. Harris was tried in 4th Judicial District Court in Monroe.

Roughly one year ago, Louisiana State Police charged Harris with one count of malfeasance in office following an investigation into the town of Richwood's finances.
