OPPJ shelves V-Vehicle tax

The Ouachita Parish Police Jury declined to take action Monday to include the 1.8-mill V-Vehicle property tax on the parish's 2010 tax roll.

While the Police Jury last month approved an ordinance for the annual levying of property taxes for 2010, Police Jurors had until Monday, Oct. 18, to amend the ordinance to include the 1.8-mill property tax for V-Vehicle, which last week changed its name to Next Autoworks.

October 18 was the last day the Police Jury could request that Ouachita Parish Tax Assessor Rich Bailey place millages on the 2010 tax roll to be collected at the end of the year.
