The group that's worked for months to raise money for a bronze statute of the late Ouachita Parish Sheriff's deputy, Cpl. J.R. Searcy, now has enough funding following Saturday's benefit trail ride and cake auction.

The benefit fundraiser was held Saturday, Oct. 16, at Trail Ride Ministries, located in western Ouachita Parish.

The group needed roughly $3,000 more to finish paying off the bronze statue that will be erected outside the new western Ouachita Parish library, which was recently named after Searcy.
