Photographer's book sales to benefit Cooley House Photographer Lee Estes will hold a book signing from 2-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 16. Lee Estes and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Press have provided 50 copies of Estes' book, "Fading Textures: Vintage Architecture, Industry, and Transportation in Northeast Louisiana" for sale in support of the Cooley House restoration project.
Fading Textures features historical photographs that serve as a compliment to Estes' current exhibition at the Masur Museum of Art, "Oxbows: Acquiescence and Continuity." Books will be available for purchase for $30.
Lee Estes, a World War II veteran, took his very first photographs in war ravaged Frankfurt am Main, Germany, in 1945. He is a native of Kentucky who has lived in Louisiana for more than 50 years. Among his artistic achievements are best in show honors at the 1985 Los Angeles County Fair International Exhibition, a gold medal at the 1991 Manassas, Va., International Exhibition, and a Fellowship in The Photographic Society of America. He is also author of "Fading Warriors: Twilight Reminisces from World War II." .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
