ESU begins new year The English-Speaking Union opened its new year on Sunday, September 26th presiding in the absence of the president Joan Chardkoff was Fred Huenefeld who recognized the new members and guest.
He announced the forthcoming programs for the remainder of the year, including the October program on Jan Austin by Dr. Rick Simmons, La Tech. Members were told of a fundraiser for the Cooley House Foundation on October 23 which includes an architectural walking tour by Lestar Martin and "Untold Stories of the Bry and Filhoil Families" by Larry Foreman, librarian.
The featured speaker, introduced by Minette Saber program vice-president, returning for the fifth year was a most popular speaker Dr. Trey Berry. Dr. Berry is the Deputy Director for Museums at the Department of Arkansas Heritage. He earned an M.A. and PhD in History from the University of Mississippi then pursued additional studies in China and extensive overseas tours.
