Sales tax collections for the month of July in Ouachita Parish decreased slightly compared to this time last year.

According to Dr. Robert Eisenstadt, director of ULM's Center for Business and Economic Research, sales tax collections for Ouachita Parish decreased 1.2 percent in July compared to July 2009.

While retail sales tax collections were down during the month of July, Eisenstadt said there were significant gains in hotel and motel tax collections.
