Dianne Cage: Autumn, Anonymous Letters & Bread Pudding Fall is in the air! I just love it. In fact this 23rd of September is the first day of Autumn. Time to plant your Mustard Greens and the multiplying green onions, two of our favorites. Do not forget to water, water, water, this is one of the most critical times to keep things alive and looking good. Our eggplant is making like crazy, the peppers are everywhere. WHEE!
Mike Cage loves this one: Confucius say, "Man who cuts his own fire wood, warms himself twice." With this 95 degree temperature and this high humidity, he really warmed himself. Mike cut and split Pecan and Pin Oak (Live Oak is too hard). The wood rack is full. We would not be cold or hungry this winter, as the freezer is full of fresh game, peas, butterbeans, okra and the pantry is full of jellies, pickles, tomato sauce, pickled okra, pickled carrots, pickled garlic, baskets of sweet potatoes and the bar is stocked with good wines and lots of my old friend, Jack Daniels. Mike is an Old Crow man. He is always trying to pass off Old Crow on me. I am a Jack kind of girl and he is not fooling me. I do know the difference. Push come to shove, I will take a little shot of Old Crow!
