Area steak grill masters are invited to compete in the Monroe Jaycees' premiere Kingsland Ranch Steak Challenge, a charity fund-raising cooking contest set for Oct. 23 at the Ike Hamilton Exposition Center in West Monroe.

To start the day off and create an immense appetite for the cook off, the Jaycees will also host the 1-5-10K Triple Play Run that morning at West Monroe's Restoration Park near the Ike.

Melinda Robinson, a vice president with the Monroe Jaycees, said they are sponsoring the two events to support local youth programs at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northeast Louisiana and the Jaycees' many local projects including their annual Christmas Shopping Tour.
