CASA honors Rick Godley CASA of Northeast Louisiana recently announced that Rick Godley, host of the Godley Morning Show on 100.9 FM The Hill, has been named the 2010 Louisiana CASA Association Media Professional of the Year.
The statewide honor is given to the media professional that collaborates with their local CASA and demonstrates initiative in heightening community awareness of issues facing abused and neglected children. CASA, or Court Appointed Special Advocates, is a non-profit organization that trains community volunteers to be the voice of abused and neglected children in court and ensure that they find safe, permanent homes.
Godley was nominated for the award by CASA of Northeast Louisiana due to his continuous support and effort to help spread the CASA message. Throughout last year, Godley has interviewed CASA representatives on his morning show to help raise awareness about the need for volunteers. One such interview included a child who had recently been adopted thanks to the help of a CASA volunteer. Godley also assisted CASA staff in recording public service announcements to raise awareness and allowed them to air at no cost. .....For the full story, subscribe to the The Ouachita Citizen's NEW E-Edition! |
