On Friday, Aug. 8, 1986 I wrote my first article for The Ouachita Citizen. Today's column is a part of that article. I made some minor adjustments to the 1986 column.

I have always wondered what makes one person win more than others. What makes one person more successful than another? What makes one person happier than another? What is it that causes some teams to become perennial winners and some teams perennial losers?
I have become firmly convinced that the major difference between winning and losing, success and failure, happiness and unhappiness is attitude. I do not mean simply winning at sports, but winning in academics, business, personal life, finances, and relationships. This is why I have spent the last 20 (now 44) years of my life deeply involved in research of motivational principles.

After years of studying human behavior, I created a motivational system in 1982 entitled "The Miracle of Goal Mining." For the next several weeks, I will write about this system and how it can help you. From the Goal-Mining System, I have written the "Ten Go Man Ments." The following is a list of the Ten "Go! Man!" Ments.
