DOE loan faces opposition

Ouachita Parish officials could learn the fate this month of V-Vehicle Co.'s $320 million loan application with the U.S. Department of Energy.

That's according to Sen. Francis Thompson, D-Delhi, who spoke Monday to the Benjamin Tennille Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution.

Earlier this year, DOE denied a more than $320 million loan V-Vehicle sought to fund efforts to establish an automobile manufacturing operation in Ouachita Parish. V-Vehicle reapplied for the DOE loan in late May.
