Aldermen take issue with synthetic marijuana

Possession of synthetic marijuana can now be prosecuted in West Monroe City Court.
That's the case because the West Monroe Board of Aldermen on Tuesday amended an existing city ordinance to include certain herbal mixtures. Aldermen acted on the matter at their regular meeting.

During this year's regular legislative session, the Legislature approved a ban on a herbal mixture that is sold as incense in some stores in West Monroe.

The herbal mixture is sold under names such as "K2," "Spice," and "Voodoo." People are known to smoke it to get a marijuana-like high.
