Thompson sides with Kostelka on redistricting

State Sen. Francis Thompson foresees northeast Louisiana aligning itself with some southern Louisiana interests when redistricting takes place next year.

Thompson, D-Delhi, spoke Monday to the Benjamin Tennille Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. He talked about redistricting and a number of other issues facing the state.

Thompson warned members of SAR that northeast Louisiana should never become at odds with the Shreveport area. Thompson was referring to the belief in some corners that voters in the Shreveport and Monroe region will ultimately have to share representation once congressional lines are redrawn using population figures taken during the 2010 Census.
