Rebels bring momentum into Rams contest

One of the area's top match-ups between local teams will be at Rebel Stadium in West Monroe Friday when the No. 1-ranked team in Class 5A, the West Monroe Rebels (2-0), hosts the Class 3A Richwood Rams (1-1).

West Monroe is coming off a 34-7 victory over the Neville Tigers (0-2).

Starting West Monroe quarterback Paul Turner amassed 103 yards rushing with a touchdown and 80 yards and a pair of passing touchdowns to Charles Hudson and Cody Stone before leaving the game near the start of the fourth quarter with a high-ankle sprain. Turner may be held out of this week's Richwood contest, giving junior Conner Osborne his second career start in as many years. Osborne started at quarterback for the Rebels in a 17-0 victory over Richwood last season after Turner had sprained his ankle the week before against Neville.
