I consider John Wooden one of the greatest coaches in the history of sports. He may be the best that there ever was. Coach Wooden guided the UCLA Bruins to 10 NCAA basketball championships in 12 years, including four perfect seasons and an 88-game winning streak.
ESPN named him the "Greatest Coach of the Twentieth Century" and The Sporting News voted him the "Number 1 Coach of All Time."

Oh, his record stands alone, yet that is not the reason that I consider John Wooden one of the best. It was not the fundamentals of basketball that his players learned playing for him, but the life lessons that were planted in their minds that is so impressive. Sports Illustrated said that there's never been a finer man in American Sports than John Wooden.

I have just finished reading "The Wisdom of Wooden." One area that influenced my thoughts as I read through the book was the tremendous influence of his parents. They filled him with a solid foundation of wisdom.
