Monroe Transit facilities undergo renovation

Monroe Transit will utilize federal stimulus dollars for improvements at the system's facilities on Washington Street and the downtown terminal.

The 10-month, $1-million renovation project will be completed with funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

The project includes renovations and upgrades to the downtown terminal in addition to updating the administrative and maintenance offices. Roof repairs, window replacement, new paint, tile and carpet are planned for the administrative offices. The maintenance facility will receive a new vehicle exhaust system, security fence and a generator, which will allow the command center to remain operational in a power outage.
