Clash of the champions

One of the area's most storied rivalries will renew the flame of battle this Friday at 7 p.m. when the defending Class 4A state champion Neville Tigers (0-1) host the defending Class 5A title holders, the West Monroe Rebels (1-0).

The game marks the second straight season that the schools have met on the gridiron after an eight-year hiatus from the series from 2001-2009.

The Rebels and Tigers are coming into the game on different paths after Neville lost to Ouachita last week and West Monroe clawed out a victory against Leesville.
