Counts, Norris politic for school board

EDITOR'S NOTE: This is the first in a series of articles with candidates seeking election on the Oct. 2 ballot.


Ouachita Parish School Board District A candidates Dr. Jeff Counts and retired Judge William "Bill" Norris say they would bring unique experience and qualities to the school board if elected in the Oct. 2 election.

The two men are vying for the school board seat currently held by school board president Jack White, who announced earlier this year he would retire after years of service to Ouachita Parish Schools.

Both candidates spoke with The Ouachita Citizen Wednesday about the upcoming election.

Counts, a local orthopedic surgeon who is a 1983 graduate of West Monroe High School, says he has been involved with five different school systems while living in four different states.
