Local businessman Karl Dhaliwal expects his new convenience store in north Monroe to be open for business by January.

Currently being built by Joe Holyfield Construction at the corner of one of Monroe's busiest intersections — Forsythe Avenue and North 18th Street — Dhaliwal's new store will be one of the biggest convenience stores in the area, encompassing 6,000 square feet. It will offer 16 fueling stations, with diesel options at each one, an inside deli and an assortment of fine wine and imported beer.

"We're going to concentrate heavy on selected wines and a large selection of imported beers, as well as all the daily needs that a convenience store has," Dhaliwal said.
