Class 5A champions ready to defend title
 The 2010 season marks the seventh season in the past 17 years that the West Monroe Rebels will begin the football season as the Louisiana High School Athletic Association Class 5A state champions.
West Monroe enters this year on a 15-game win streak that goes back to last season when they beat Archbishop Rummel 30-0 in the state championship game at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans in December.
West Monroe returns four starters on offense and five on defense that should be a solid nucleus of players to build around in defending their championship.
