Ouachita Parish officials hope for a decent turnout Saturday for the congressional primary elections, but voter turnout during the early voting period indicated otherwise.

Polls open Saturday at 6 a.m. and close at 8 p.m.

Early voting for the Aug. 28 elections was held Aug. 14 through Aug. 21. Ouachita Parish
Registrar Christa Medaries said a total of 998 people voted during early voting.
"The clerk (of court) said it may not be very busy since there's not a lot on the ballot," Medaries said.
