We have control over our choices
There is one feature of life that we have complete control over and that is the choices that we make. There may be some events in life that happen to us that we can not control, but what we can control are the choices of how we are going to react to them.
Oprah Winfrey could have chosen to become bitter and hate her neighbors. She was sexually abused. She faced the pain of racism. But she chose to overcome the negative impact of all this trauma. Her choices have made her one of the wealthiest and most influential people in the world.
Andrew Grove, former CEO of Intel Corporation, was an immigrant and could not even read the headlines of the newspaper when he entered school in America. Three years later he became the valedictorian of his class.
