Some years ago, sitting in my study in Pretoria, South Africa ... I had a memorable visitor. He was a tall, stately, dignified African. He was a highly respected preacher for the church of Christ in the African township.

"Brother Gray," he began, "could you please explain to me why you believe the earth to be round?" It only took me a moment to realize that he was not making a joke! He was very sincere.

Well, I started in to give him all kinds of "evidences: that indeed, the world is round. I told him of Christopher Columbus... "Yes, brother, I have read of that," he responded. I could tell by the tone of is voice he didn't put much stock in it!
