Though some parish residents may take issue with the Ouachita Parish Sheriff's Office working inmates, Sheriff Royce Toney says it has helped save the taxpayers money over the years.

Toney made that point Tuesday at the West Monroe Rotary Club's weekly luncheon.

He pointed to the Ouachita Parish Training Center and Range, located in western Ouachita Parish, which was constructed mostly by using inmate labor during the tenure of former Sheriff Richard Fewell.
