United 4 Equality, the Louisiana Coalition for the Equal Rights Amendment, and other organizations, are sponsoring a Women's Equality Day Celebration in front of the White House on Thursday Aug. 26.

Aug. 26 is the 90th anniversary of women's suffrage and Women's Equality Day. This year's celebration is entitled "Light Up the Sky for Women's Equality."

United 4 Equality has selected Monroe/West Monroe Business and Professional Women to participate in a satellite celebration.

A "Rally and Candelight Ceremony" will take place at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26 at the Chennault Aviation and Military Museum, 701 Kansas Lane in Monroe.

There will be a short program presented by the local BPW officers, culminating with the moment of silence and candlelight ceremony.

Monroe/West Monroe BPW will be mentioned from the platform during the White House Ceremony.

The public is invited.
