Local golfer wins title
West Monroe resident Jeff Pilcher took first place in the Louisiana Amateur Golf Tour stop at Calvert Crossing Golf Club on Saturday. Pilcher played for nearly six hours in the humid August heat to win the title.
Pilcher shot a round of 78 and had to win a six-hole playoff against fellow tour member Paul Adkins to secure the victory.
"The course was playing as tough as I have seen it in a long time," Pilcher said. "The heat affected people. If you lost focus at all it was going to hurt you."
